Could This Be The Answer To End Menstrual Cramps?

Period cramps, who get’s them? The dreaded monthly visitor that has us curling up, a hot water bottle on the front, heat pad on the back, pain killers, the lot. You name it, we have all tried something or other to relieve the cramps mother nature brings us.

I was recently gifted a box of tampons from Daye (pronounced Day) and inside this box was something that would change my whole day, even my life, I am not joking!

A little insight (into my ovaries): I recently came off the implant after 10 years of being on it, mainly because I hadn’t had a “normal” regular period for a very long time and with having PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), I wanted to be sure everything was ticking over as normal in the ovary area. For those of you that don’t know what the contraceptive implant (Nexplanon) is, it’s a small flexible plastic rod that's placed under the skin in your upper arm and releases the hormone progestogen into your bloodstream preventing pregnancy and it lasts for 3 years. (Not as gross as it sounds I promise, I loved this form of contraception and will always recommend it, especially if you suffer from a condition with your lady parts).

However after having gone back to a regular cycle and dealing with the most excruciating pain I particularly suffer with and what I can only describe as a crime scene between my legs for about 5 days and overly enlarged sore breasts, I decided to go back on the pill, one that provides the same hormones as the implant, knowing it would agree with me. This is a choice I made for me to help ease the symptoms slightly during my now very regular cycle.

Back to the “Daye” ahead: The gift box contained a supply of CBD infused tampons. Interesting, I know right?! But it get’s better, they work, they actually work wonders! After just 20 minutes of using one, my cramps had vanished, I managed to remove my heat pads, not take a pain killer and go about my day happy as larry. I could feel a dull little twinge at times in my lower back but that’s nothing compared to the usual tight, throbbing ache I normally have to persevere with for the first few days of my cycle.

What is CBD you ask? CBD is a cannabinoid, a molecule derived from the Cannabis plant, also known as marijuana or hemp. It's a naturally occurring substance that's used in products like oils and even edible medication to impart a feeling of relaxation and calm. CBD is recognised by your body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is responsible for coordinating pain relief and inflammation, among other things. The vaginal canal is home to a high concentration of endocannabinoid receptors, making CBD infused tampons a major game changer.

So why choose Daye:

  1. CBD infused layer (at 30%) tampons to soothe menstrual discomfort during wear.

  2. Au naturale, the Daye tampon is made from sustainably sourced, unbleached organic cotton and is dye and pesticide free.

  3. Bacteria free tampons, with extra sanitisation before packaging.

  4. A protective sleeve designed to prevent fibre loss. During wear (organic or not) most tampons shed fibre resulting in nasty vaginal build-up, but not with Daye.

  5. The wrapper is 100% compostable.

  6. Bio-based applicator is made from renewably-sourced sugarcane and can be recycled if cleaned throughly.

  7. Travelling tin (to hold your tampons in) created from endlessly recyclable aluminium.

  8. Doctor approved.

Daye do also provide “naked” tampons which are all the same goodness listed above minus the CBD oil. Worth a try in my opinion. Although I was gifted these, there was no obligation for me to post a blog on it and share my experience but if I can help some of you naturally relieve the pain you might struggle with then my job here is done :)

Daye provide a quiz on their website so you can tailor your tampon needs/subscription to suit your flow, click here. I have signed up and have deliveries to suit me monthly now!

If you have any questions at all on anything mentioned in this post please do get in touch or leave a comment below.

Have a fab Daye ;)
