48 Hours In Toulouse
Toulouse is known as La Ville Rose ‘The Pink City’ due to the terra-cotta bricks used in majority of its buildings. Most of the city can be explored on foot, or bike or even a metro. Only 1 hour 50 minutes flight from London and you’ll be in the beautiful South of France!
Place Du Capitole
Is the heart of Toulouse, home to the city hall of Toulouse, it is a gorgeous square surrounded by streets of shops restaurants and history.
Church of The Jacobins
A historic sight not to be missed! The Church of the Jacobins is a Roman Catholic church, and a magnificent one at that! The construction started in 1230 (madness to think of this time period right). This church homes some incredible architecture, with the structure of the church being supported by 28 metre long columns with a palm tree structure on the ceiling. So if architecture is your thing, you will love Toulouse, and love visiting The Church of the Jacobins. Through the other side you’ll find the beautifully kept garden, for another stunning architectural gem.
Food Tour
Foodies, this one is for you! Taste of Toulouse, is definitely a tour worth doing! Personally a highlight of my trip to Toulouse. Taste of Toulouse is an english speaking food tour that helps you explore the French gastronomy and culture by visiting the renowned market ‘Marche Victor Hugo’ where you’ll meet some of the best creators of French food, including bread, cheese, chocolate and wine and you’ll even get to try it all! What is not to like about that hey?!
Doorways of Toulouse
There are some truly incredible doorways all over the city! Some you can go beyond and explore and others are just to be viewed from the street but nonetheless, they are everywhere, so you won’t miss them!
Courtyards of Toulouse
The courtyard tour is also something you might want to look into if you visit Toulouse. On this tour you will visit Hotel de Dahus and Hotel de Bernuy, just to name two of the architectural highlights of Toulouse. Both former mansions to the rich they boast these amazing turrets and intricate details into the building work.
Maison Constant - Le Bibent
A truly stunning restaurant, just to the side of Place Du Capitole, the art nouveaux decor alone warrants a visit, serving traditional french cuisine, with vegetarian options available also and hands down the best mash potato ever!
Ma Biche sur Le Toit
A rooftop bar and restaurant on top of Galleries Lafayette, enter through the famous store and see the city from the highest view point in Toulouse. The food, the view and then the evening show during your meal definitely warrants a visit! A boujee spot in Toulouse, so dress to impress for sunset cocktails here!
Cité de l'espace
The Cité de l'espace is a theme park focused on space and the conquest of space. Explore, interact and basically be an astronaut for the day!
Garonne River
A beautiful landscape to visit and take pictures at. Especially if you’re an early riser, you can catch the sunrise here!
Local Shops
Toulouse has lots of local boutiques to discover, with garments from local fashionistas, artists and trinkets and some delicious traditional bakeries.
